JPMorgan Chase & Co. said Monday it will provide a one-year, $225,000 grant to The Water Council to help it identify potential water technology investors and connect them with entrepreneurs.

As part of that effort, The Water Council hopes to hold a conference in Milwaukee within a year to bring the investors and entrepreneurs together, said Dean Amhaus, the group’s president and chief executive officer.

“We are getting more calls from angel and venture, even private equity, investors,” Amhaus said. “The question we have is how many others are out there who may be already starting to dance in the water world.”

The conference would aim to attract investors and entrepreneurs from other areas, not just the Milwaukee region, Amhaus said. The council is hoping to grow the conference in the same way it has grown its annualWater Summit, which in June attracted about 400 people, up from about 60 when it started in 2007, Amhaus said.
