With last fall’s opening of the Global Water Center, and the creation of a neighboring business park, more apartments, restaurants and other developments are coming to the Walker’s Point area, south of downtown Milwaukee.
Just west of the future business park, developer Peter Moede will soon begin converting an industrial building into 64 apartments, part of his larger plan to develop 175 units within a former tannery. Just south of the business park site, known as the Reed Street Yards, a former candy factory is being converted into 100 apartments.
Within a block of the water center, developers have remodeled obsolete industrial buildings into restaurants, a high-end chocolatier and a gourmet ice cream maker, with other nearby buildings to become apartments, retail space and a possible technology firm office.
