The Water Council’s BREW Accelerator, which works with high-potential water technology start-ups, has begun taking applications for its fourth class.
The BREW, which stands for Business Research Entrepreneurship in Wisconsin, will take as many as six start-ups for the program. It provides six-months of training, networking and access to researchers and potential corporate customers, along with an additional six months of low-cost space in the Global Water Center and further assistance.
Participants receive a $50,000 note that pays off as they raise outside funding over the next 24 months.
In an industry with a highly-regulated segment that doesn’t attract a large amount of venture capital, The Water Council is helping start-ups get connected to corporations as potential customers and traditional and alternative funding sources, said Dean Amhaus, president and chief executive officer of the organization.
The application deadline is April, 16, he said.
