The Water Council is pleased to report that Investments in Water Innovation Week was a great success, from our announcement with JPMorgan Chase & Co., our win at the inaugural Wisconsin Innovation Awards, to The BREW Batch II Welcome Reception. The week was packed with exciting events where many new connections were undoubtedly fostered.
The BREW Batch II Welcome Reception
On Wednesday, The Water Council and our Members celebrated and welcomed Batch II Winners, of The BREW, to the Global Water Center. Representatives from all six of the startups were on hand to describe their companies, meet Water Council Members, and to take part in a check presentation ceremony, hosted by BREWmaster Elizabeth Thelen, Director of Entrepreneurship and Talent, The Water Council.

uring the presentation Dean Amhaus, President/CEO, The Water Council, also welcomed the new entrepreneurs, and recognized the departing Batch I. He also invited, Adrian Sym, Executive Director, Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), to address the crowd. He noted that it had been many years since his last visit to Milwaukee, but that he was very impressed by the amount of progress that has occurred, including the opening of the Global Water Center, and how it was an easy choice to locate AWS’s North American headquarters at the building. After his remarks, Adrian and Dean sat to officially sign the Memorandum of Understanding between The Water Council and AWS, which sets forth guidelines and lays the groundwork for The Water Council to become AWS’s North American Headquarters, and partner in implementing the new Water Standard finalized earlier this year.
Following the signing of the MOU and Batch II presentation, guests enjoyed light appetizers and “Brews” generously provided by Water Council Member MillerCoors. They also mingled with the new entrepreneurs who were more than willing to discuss their businesses. See the slideshow below.
Other Notable Events From Investments in Water Innovation Week
The Water Council and JPMorgan Chase and Co. kicked off the week in a big way on Monday when it was announced that the two organizations have formed a new investment partnership, to the tune of a $225,000 grant as part of JPMorgan Chase’s recently announced Small Business Forward program. The Water Council’s BREW accelerator program was awarded one of 10 inaugural Wisconsin Innovation Awards in Madison on Tuesday, August 26, as part of the Forward Technology Festival. Several Water Council Members were also recognized with Innovation Awards, including Microbe Detectives, Marquette University, and Deiscovery World. Read more HERE.
