Opened in 2013, the Global Water Center just south of downtown Milwaukee is a hub for water-centric companies from around the world.

Recently, the Milwaukee Business Journal was given access into the 98,000-square-foot building, which was converted from a warehouse into the research and testing facility it is today.

The building has more than 40 tenants. Scroll through the gallery to learn who some of the tenants are.

The Milwaukee region’s water industry is a $10.5 billion market, according to Milwaukee 7, the seven-county economic development organization. The area’s water industry supports 20,000 jobs and accounts for 4 percent of the total world water business, M7 says.

In 2018, The Brookings Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based research institute, named Milwaukee’s regional water technology industry as one of the best industry clusters in the nation.
