Milwaukee-based groups that promote new businesses in two separate sectors — water technology and energy — are announcing leadership changes.

The Water Council has appointed two new co-chairs to its board of directors, and Midwest Energy Research Consortium has named a new executive director, each group said Thursday, in separate announcements.

Todd Adams, president and chief executive officer at Rexnord Corp., and Jim Stern, executive vice president for A. O. Smith Corporation, will be Water Council co-chairs.

They are replacing Rich Meeusen, the recently retired Badger Meter Inc. chair, and Paul Jones, former chairman and CEO of A. O. Smith.

Meeusen and Jones co-founded the Water Council 10 years ago, and will continue to serve on the board.

The organization promotes water technology businesses in the Milwaukee area, and helped develop the Global Water Center. The center opened in 2013 at 247 W. Freshwater Way.

Meanwhile, the responsibilities of Midwest Energy Research Consortium Executive Director and CEO Alan Perlstein will transition to Dan Ebert.

Perlstein will remain with the organization as CEO through June.

Ebert joins the organization, known as M-WERC, with more than 25 years of experience in utility, management and regulatory and policy development.

That includes serving as senior vice president of government affairs and external relations for WPPI Energy, a Sun Prairie-based utility.

The consortium, based at 4201 N. 27th St., conducts energy-related research.
