Phigenics, a Naperville, Ill.-based firm, will soon become the Global Water Center’s newest tenant.
Here, chief technology officer and co-founder William McCoy discusses the water management and analysis company’s origins, goals and more. Some questions have been added for clarity, and some answers have been shortened for brevity.
Q: How did the company start?
McCoy: I started the company with my two partners after about 30 years of experience in the water management field. I’m the scientist of the group. I have a Ph.D. in microbiology and chemistry, and my partners, Ashton McCombs and Jay Reading, have decades of experience in management of water products and services. We left a a major water treatment chemical supplier because there’s a major problem related to water management that’s not being solved by the existing industry.
