A four-story office and research building for water technology companies could break ground this fall in the Reed Street Yards in Milwaukee.

General Capital Group LLP, Milwaukee, and local developer Peter Moede will develop the 80,000-square-foot building. Those two are lead developers of the 17-acre Reed Street Yard project south of the Menomonee River in the shadow of the Sixth Street Viaduct. The business park is intended for water technology companies. As a neighbor to the Global Water Center, which is filling up, it is ground zero for growth in the local water industry cluster. The proposed four-story office would be the first building in the yards.

Michael Weiss, president of General Capital, said the Global Water Center’s success finding tenants provides the momentum for the new building. The center likely will be at capacity before the new building opens, he said.
