The Rockwell Automation Charitable Corp. and the Brico Fund have made large donations to the Milwaukee Harbor District to help push forward plans for a new public plaza on the waterfront.
The two groups announced Tuesday that Rockwell will donate $600,000 and the Brico Fund will donate $250,000 for the project. The plaza will be built at the end of East Greenfield Avenue, where the road meets Milwaukee’s inner harbor. With seating, water features and plantings, the plaza is intended as an early sign of progress in the Harbor District area.
Businesses and city officials are planning a long-term revitalization effort to open the harbor’s waterfront to the public and encourage new developments.
“Rockwell Automation has a rich company history in the community and our immediate neighborhood,” said Blake Moret, Rockwell Automation chairman and CEO. “This plaza will provide a unique recreational and educational destination for our employees, members of the greater Milwaukee community and region.”
