The Water Council started as a hub in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S., but we have evolved into a global organization with several international partnerships. These relationships enable us to connect companies, entrepreneurs and researchers and share knowledge, opportunities and ideas to accelerate the pace of innovation, not just in the U.S. but around the world.
To expand its global reach, in 2018 The Water Council established an outreach office in Northern Ireland led by Beverley Ferrara, European representative. This means The Water Council is well positioned to facilitate personal connections between stakeholders in the United States and western Europe.
The Water Council’s extensive European connections span Ireland, UK, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Belgium and Finland, boosted by close working relationships with our long-term strategic partners. In addition to our strategic partnerships, The Water Council maintains collaborative relationships with Kuopio, the Danish Export Group, KTN, Isle Utilities and more. We are continuously building our EU relationships to expand value to the global water community.
Asia: We have a number of relationships and partners in South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and various regions in China. We are involved in a multi-year cities exchange program with the U.S. Water Alliance and U.S. State Department between Milwaukee and Phuket, Thailand, in the ASEAN WiSE Smart Cities engagement.
Canada: The Water Council has partnered with the Council of the Great Lakes Region on Great Lakes WISE (Water Innovation & Stewardship Exchange), a peer-to-peer business forum for discussing water challenges and opportunities in the Great Lakes.
A Global Community At the Water Council you will not only access a world of knowledge for advancing your initiatives, you’ll also tap into a growing global community. To stay on top of new trends, issues and opportunities, we communicate regularly with other hubs, collaborate on projects and participate in each other’s events. |
Facilitating Opportunities Facilitating and nurturing discussions between relevant stakeholders includes trade missions, virtual market visits and hosting a bi-annual post-WEFTEC business event for European companies. Our innovation programs – a post-accelerator, pilot program and tech challenge – are also open to a global audience. |
Achieving Results We actively work with our international members to identify new business opportunities, exchange ideas and open doors to advance new innovation and business opportunities, such as brokering partnerships between European and U.S. stakeholders. You can count on us to support you every step of the way. |
For international firms exploring business opportunities in the U.S. we created our Overseas Membership. Providing a high-touch service, benefits include leveraging our networks, making connections and identifying new business opportunities.
