We know water stewardship is of vital importance for organizations around the world. While the outcomes of good water stewardship are common across continents – good water quality to sustainable water balance and good water governance – the necessary actions vary by location based on the unique risk profile of each watershed and basin.
That’s why we are happy to have a new resource for expanding our water stewardship work in Europe. We are pleased to announce that we have hired Joe Ferrara, an experienced business development executive, as our senior consultant for WAVE in Europe. Joe will help introduce European organizations to WAVE and contextualize program benefits for operating in Europe, particularly in light of enhanced reporting requirements such as the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
We introduced WAVE: Water Stewardship Verified in 2022 as a way for organizations to improve their water stewardship performance and reporting and, crucially, have it independently verified. We now have 15 organizations participating, including four WAVE verified companies, together representing more than 2,000 sites globally.
We look forward to working with Joe as we grow WAVE in Europe. He began his career at InSinkErator, one of our largest members, and spearheaded the company’s decision to explore sales growth outside North America. He successfully established InSinkErator’s distribution network across Europe and led the company’s European HQ in the United Kingdom. If his last name sounds familiar, that’s because his wife, Beverley Ferrara, is our European representative working with existing and potential European members and representing The Water Council at trade and industry events.
