What is the selection process?
Step 1: Complete and submit your application online.
Step 2: Judges will review applications and request pitches.
Step 3: Applicants will be notified if moving forward in the process.
Step 4: Winners will be announced a few months later and the program begins in September each year.
What are the judges looking for?
Product: Unique to the water industry, solving a deep rooted problem in the industry, creating a new market and opportunity, commercialization potential.
Focus: Water quality, water quantity, agriculture, watershed management, sensors, data management, hydro-power + more.
Phase: A mix of idea, early stage – patent pending, first product and first sale.
People: Expertise of the team.
Who are the judges?
BREW Accelerator judges are experts in a variety of areas and represent the following companies / institutions:
Grace Matthews, Evoqua, One Water Solutions, Desert Research Institute, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences, University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Entrepreneurship Department, International Water Association, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and Water Environment Federation.
What is “Bootcamp” style business training?
BREW Accelerator uses Lean Startup, Growth Wheel and Business Model Canvas. Winners are required to attend weekly training sessions, along with events, meetings and conferences throughout the program. BREW Accelerator has a consultant team, including Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, WIPFLi and Sage-Water, LLC.
Will I have to move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA area?
Yes (you want to be here). For the 6-month duration of the program, with an option to receive low cost space for an additional 6 months.
