Welcome Our Summer Communications Intern!

We are excited to welcome Elena Rose Galan as our summer communications and events intern! Elena will help us with social media, newsletters and other communications and assist in events such as BREW Week and our ReFRESH Summit. Learn more about her below.

Hi! My name is Elena, and I am currently a junior at Marquette University studying International Business and Marketing. I was born in Chile and grew up in California, where I developed an appreciation for environmental sustainability from an early age. With both of my parents involved in water and sustainability-related fields, I became interested in environmental science.

Living in California also gave me firsthand experience with water conservation. During periods of drought, my family used shower timers to reduce water usage, and we still collect water while waiting for it to warm up. These experiences helped me understand the importance of protecting and managing our water resources. In high school, I took AP Environmental Science and became especially interested in learning about contaminants, runoff, and their impacts on ecosystems and human health.

I am excited to join The Water Council this summer and learn more about water conservation, water quality and the innovative work being done within the water sector. This internship gives me the opportunity to combine my background in environmental science with my studies in marketing and business.

Outside of work and school, I enjoy scrapbooking and exploring local hiking trails, which allow me to stay creative and spend time outdoors.
