Membership & Marketing Manager

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The Water Council is a non-profit organization that drives economic development, innovation programs and corporate water sustainability programs to support the global water industry. As the leading U.S. cluster, and one of the most powerful water technology hubs in the world, the organization convenes global water leaders and supports more than 150 members from small and mid-sized businesses and large global corporations to engineers, entrepreneurs, utilities, government agencies, education programs and non-profits, with valuable services, programming and networking opportunities. POSITION DESCRIPTIONÂ
The Membership and Marketing Manager is responsible for proactively growing and managing our membership and leading the related marketing and communications efforts. The successful candidate will bring creative ideas and processes to build and retain our member base, develop and execute member outreach and engagement strategies, and highlight the work of our member companies through webinars, blog posts, social posts and more. This role also serves as a key contributor and co-organizer of our annual summit.Â
RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
- Develop and execute strategies and action plans to attract and secure new members and sponsors. Track progress and metrics.Â
- Create innovative membership retention strategies, including surveys and renewal communications/campaigns. Establish and oversee efficient renewal process.Â
- Develop and execute creative approaches for member engagement (events, webinars, other).Â
- Produce high-quality communications materials for website and other, including content generation, graphics, and editing of collected copy from members; collaborate on electronic newsletter content. Track campaign results to identify trends. Â

- Demonstrated ability to cultivate, build and maintain strong working relationships with individuals and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, as well as engage in the broader partner and provider network.Â
- Strong leadership and project management skills (goal-setting, organization and implementation)Â
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with preference for communicating technical information to broad audiencesÂ
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs, Salesforce or other CRMs, and email marketing software, such as Mailchimp.Â
- Basic knowledge of graphic design (e.g., Canva), photography and video production. Â
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEÂ
Bachelor’s degree preferred in communications, business or related fields and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing similar programs or initiatives. Experience working in a membership organization or in the water technology industry is a plus. Experience with event planning is preferred. Â
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is casual but fast paced with multiple activities occurring at the same time. The employee needs to be able to work independently and efficiently allocate one’s own time to handle multiple demands and priorities. Â

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary is commensurate with experience. Full-time (40+ hours per week) with benefits. Â
