At White House Water Summit, Milwaukee pledges to advance water innovation

MILWAUKEE, WI, MARCH 22, 2016 – As part of the first White House Water Summit held today in conjunction with the United Nations World Water Day, Milwaukee announced five measurable commitments to help advance water innovation. The Water Council, City of Milwaukee, Alliance for Water Stewardship – North America, and ThinkWater were included in the White House Fact Sheet, highlighting the commitments made today by over 150 organizations from across the United States.

Competition announces two winners to advance new, clean water technologies

MILWAUKEE, WI, MARCH 21, 2016 – The Water Council, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) and the Fund for Lake Michigan (FFLM) today announced two winners that best align with The Water Council’s Pilot Program’s goal to address integrated water solutions through innovation, application and demonstration, while maintaining a cost-efficient, scalable and deployable model.

The Water Council, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee participate in White House roundtable on water innovation

MILWAUKEE, WI, Dec. 17, 2015 – After his return from Washington, D.C, The Water Council announced that its President and CEO, Dean Amhaus, participated in the opening “Technology as a Solution” panel for a roundtable at the White House focused on water innovation that was held on December 15th. David E J Garman PhD, Associate Vice Chancellor Water Technology R&D, Founding Dean School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee also attended the invite-only roundtable.

National award of excellence presented to Water Council

Pow! national competition announced

CHICAGO, Sept. 29, 2015 – A national competition was launched today to reward new ideas and approaches for improving sustainability and resiliency efforts in the water and clean tech industries. Sponsored by Veolia, The Water Council and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, the new program is called “Pow! emPowering Opportunities in Water” and offers cash prizes, mentoring opportunities, funding for tuition/training expenses and offices for one year.

Application process now open for Water Council Pilot Program

MILWAUKEE, WI. SEPT. 28, 2015 – The Water Council today announced that it is accepting applications for its Pilot Program which is designed to help transfer research from the lab with a working prototype, to real world pilot project demonstration sites for practical application. The Program will support businesses of all sizes by acting as a launch pad to validate and commercialize products that are near market introduction.

Economic analysis shows Milwaukee’s Water Technology District has spurred $211.6 Million in development

MILWAUKEE, WI. SEPT. 24, 2015 – The Water Council, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) released an Economic Investment Analysis (http://inwisconsin.com/mkewater) of the Water Technology District in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood, which found that $211.6 million worth of development has occurred since 2012 when it became the epicenter of water technology and freshwater research.

MILWAUKEE, WI SEPT. 23, 2015 – In conjunction with its participation at WEFTEC®, the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference taking place in Chicago Sept. 26-30, The Water Council will launch the Global Water Port (www.globalwaterport.com), an online research and collaboration powerhouse—and the most comprehensive water ecosystem of its kind—developed to enhance connectivity within the water technology sector and among those interested in finding solutions to water-related challenges.
