The Water Council, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation announce round III of the BREW

MILWAUKEE, WI – (February 26, 2015) – The BREW, a first-of-its-kind place-based global seed accelerator for water technology startups led by The Water Council, is launching Round III of the program. The application process opens March 1 at 8:00 am (CST) and accepts applications from around the world through March 31 at 11:59 pm (CST). Up to eight winners will be selected by June 23, 2015, to participate in Round III beginning in September.

Water Council hires Amy Jensen as new Director of Finance & Operations

MILWAUKEE, WI, February 19, 2015 – The Water Council today announced that Amy Jensen has been hired as the organization’s first Director of Finance and Operations. Ms. Jensen, who has served as the Managing Director at Skylight Music Theatre since 2009, will begin working for The Water Council on April 1. Prior to her role at Skylight, Ms. Jensen has served in a number of finance related roles in Milwaukee including Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Vice President of Finance and Administration at United Performing Arts Fund, and Audit Manager at Ernst & Young LLP.

The Water Council commends Senate Committee on passing the Nexus of Energy and Water Sustainability Act of 2014

MILWAUKEE, November 14 – The Water Council expresses continued support for S. 1971, the Nexus of Energy and Water for Sustainability Act of 2014, which was passed by the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources yesterday, November 13. This bipartisan bill, introduced by Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) and cosponsored by Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), will establish a federal interagency coordination committee with the leadership of the Department of Energy and the Department of the Interior, focused on the nexus between energy and water production, use, efficiency, and other purposes.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. announces water investment partnership with The Water Council

MILWAUKEE, WI, Aug. 25, 2014 – JPMorgan Chase & Co. and The Water Council today announced a partnership to bring together North America’s investment community and water technology entrepreneurs to match capital with water innovation. The partnership includes a $225,000 grant from JPMorgan Chase as part of the company’s recently launched Small Business Forward initiative—a national, five-year, $30 million grant program meant to boost small business support networks that help growing enterprises in specific industries.

The Water Council launches The Water Collaborative Innovation Platform

Milwaukee June 30, 2014 –The Water Council, the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the innovationExchange and inno360 have formed a partnership to rapidly expand Milwaukee’s global presence in water innovation and leadership. By harnessing the power of today’s most advanced collaborative innovation technologies, together they will dramatically increase and improve public-private sector water-related collaborative research. This expert system links the knowledge economy with the innovation economy by providing an interface for academics, industry, investors and manufacturers.

The Water Council partners with Wisconsin Historical Society to record real time history

MILWAUKEE – The Water Council announced today that their organization has formed a partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) to document the water initiative happening in Wisconsin that they believe will shape the economic future for the state. It was decided that the significance of the water movement being spearheaded by The Water Council would one day be viewed as a part of Wisconsin’s history, and thus should be well documented now, while the individuals responsible for The Council are still around, and able to contribute to that process. Says Ellsworth Brown, Society Director, “The Water Council idea is new, just a few years old, so the records are fresh. The people are still there, the people who created it, they have memories, records; so the idea was to do it this now,” rather than later.

French Ambassador to vsit Milwaukee’s Global Water Center & sign MOU

MILWAUKEE – The Water Council announced today that they will host French Ambassador to the US Francois Delattre at Milwaukee’s Global Water Center, during his visit to Milwaukee for a speaking engagement at the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. Ambassador Delattre, who was not originally scheduled to visit the Center, located in Historic Walker’s Point, specifically requested a visit to the building, which houses water-related startup companies, research lab space, and university operations, including several water technology companies that are subsidiaries of larger French operations.
