APX10 AS is a fast-growing Nordic company that helps utilities make more informed decisions with big data analytics. Remarkably, it took only two years for APX10 to go from proof-of-concept to supporting almost 20% of the Danish water utilities with an asset management data-driven decision-making tool. We spoke recently with APX10 CEO Ulrich Borup Hansen and Andreas Pedersen, head of projects and communications, about their growth, the importance of personal relationships in new market entry strategy and the value of The Water Council.
While it has been rainy and chilly for us the last few weeks, the grass is turning green and the flowers are appearing. This renewed energy reminds me of the exciting activities taking place at The Water Council. I’m especially pleased that we are having more in-person meetings, hosting visitors from across the world, planning our first member meeting in two years and preparing for the return of our Water Leaders Summit in October.

The Water Council has a new neighbor in the Global Water Center. The Wasmer Company, an energy efficiency consulting firm based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, has opened its second office in the Global Water Center (GWC) located in Milwaukee just south of downtown.
n the latest sign that businesses need to be proactive in strategically addressing environmental risks and opportunities — including water — the SEC on Monday issued a draft rule for public comment that mandates climate disclosures for publicly held companies. Fittingly, the announcement came the day before World Water Day, as the international community addresses growing problems of water scarcity, flooding, contamination and other water issues that are only exacerbated by climate change.
We work hard to fulfill our mission to solve critical water challenges by driving freshwater innovation and advancing water stewardship. But we don’t work alone. This month, I’m struck by how many of our activities involve critical partnerships.
The Water Council took a trip to the South Shore Water Reclamation Facility in Oak Creek, Wis., to check out a pilot demonstration by Tomorrow Water of its Proteus technology. The four-month pilot is part of The Water Council’s Pilot Program, arranged in partnership with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). Proteus could potentially revolutionize wastewater treatment by reducing the space and time needed to treat the water.
In developing the WAVE program, it was incredibly important to The Water Council to design a program that was responsive to the needs of the user and resulted in outcomes that were meaningful to external stakeholders.
